Littlewood's Summer Book Fair: June 1st - June 5th
We'll be in the Media Center for the
event and we'll be open all week, the very last week of school. We plan on
having lots of great selections for summer reading, including the Sunshine
State Young Reader's Award selections for the upcoming year.
In the next two weeks, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Meeker, and I will need your help in
preparing for this event. First, we need your gently used items for our
RECYCLED READING and OTHER GOOD STUFF section. We'd love the books, videos,
games, and puzzles that your kids have outgrown. We sell them cheap, but
the money really adds up and all goes to the Media Center.
Second, VOLUNTEERS are needed now to help get the word out. We'll be
working throughout the day on Thursday May 21st in the Media Center to get posters
and fliers completed. If you think you can help out on that day, email me
at shawdouglas@bellsouth.net . If you're not available that day, perhaps
you'd be interested in helping set up on Friday, May 29th. We'll start when
the bell rings in the morning and work until the job is finished.
During Book Fair Week, we'll need volunteers to hold the Teacher's Preview
reception on Monday, June 1st at 2:00 - 3:00 PM. We'll need food and
beverages, as well as volunteers to work this event.
Finally, book fair requires lots of volunteers to run the operation. We'll
be open at 7:15 AM every day that week, and remain open throughout the
school day until an hour after dismissal. Friday, the last day of school is
the exception, when we'll be closing up at 10:00 AM to pack up the book fair
items and displays.
You'll be hearing a lot more about book fair in the next couple of weeks,
but right now, just getting the word out and getting prepared is what we
need most. To get more information about any of the items above, contact
